Winters

Winters, 12 miles north of Vacaville, was founded in 1875. An agriculture-based town, local crops include peaches, prunes, apricots, almonds and walnuts, as well as rice and wheat. Sheep and cattle also are a source of industry for the area.

Known as the "family town" of Yolo County, Winters is just four miles east of fishing and camping at Lake Solano. The community is also near Putah Creek, which flows south of town from Monticello Dam and Lake Berryessa, nine miles to the west.

The town has maintained its small-town feel while expanding in recent years, and it offers the opportunity to live on enough acreage to enjoy horses and orchards.
