Meet Aaron Roberts, Co-owner of The Ball Park
About The Ball Park: When Aaron Roberts and his wife, Debbie, realized that their children's Solano County baseball and softball teams weren't playing at the same level of some of their opponents from different areas, the couple decided to open The Ball Park - an indoor baseball and softball training facility that offers lessons and public batting cages.
"We're here to bring up the level of play in the community," he said. "We try to provide hints and tips for kids that come in and try to keep them on the road toward getting better at the game."
Why does he do it? "We felt like we wanted to provide a place where kids can get a higher level of instruction," explained Roberts. The Ball Park features instructors who have played baseball and softball at high levels. Some baseball instructors have played Triple-A and Double-A ball while a few softball instructors have Division I college experience.
The Roberts opened The Ball Park in March 2006 and Aaron is still a volunteer coach in the community. Last year he coached three different teams, including Bobby Sox, PONY baseball and traveling softball.
His goal for The Ball Park: "Our goal is to have kids play with the confidence they need to do well," Roberts said. "One of the markets we try to reach to is the kid who isn't getting much playing time and isn't the best on his team."
The Ball Park offers instruction on hitting, pitching, throwing, fielding and catching.
